With loft ceilings, exposed brick and raw, open floor plans, these 10 industrial event spaces convert historical buildings into modern wedding venues for the Chicago bride.

Gallery 1028 (Above)

Located on Goose Island, which is now home to some of the city's leaders in event catering, lighting and floral design, Gallery 1028 is a fantastic 4,000-square-foot raw loft and 2,000-square-foot cocktail space. And with companies like J&L Catering and Frost Chicago just up the street, your event is practically planned for you.

Book the Atrium, which was an early 20th century workshop for large advertising billboards due to the spectacular amount of natural light. With a domed ceiling and east- and west-facing, 45-foot-high windows, it's unlike any other space, and photos are guaranteed to be wow-worthy.

This warehouse for salvaged items - including everything from furniture to home elements like stone planters and claw-foot bathtubs - also offers a courtyard space for ceremonies where pictures will capture the juxtaposition of the lush ivy covering the industrial staircases.

Located on the top floor of this historic 1911 building, the Skyline Loft is 18,000 square feet of open, customizable space. Details include solid wood flooring, exposed brick, 15-foot wood beamed ceilings with skylights, and views of the city from wrap-around windows.

Zhou B Art Center

This contemporary art gallery is known for its thought-provoking exhibitions of international artists and home-grown talent. With nearly 90,000 square feet of space, the center offers multiple event spaces, but we love the idea of a large cocktail reception on the first floor: It's still somewhat raw, with slate-colored flooring and whitewashed pillars, but up to 1,000 guests can mingle among the permanent sculptures and art installations.

Housed in a two-story former power plant, the Chicago Illuminating Company has renovated its interior to reflect a more modern aesthetic against structural elements like steel beams supporting 15- to 50-foot-high ceilings.

A departure from the traditional Fulton Market and West Loop locations, Floating World Gallery, which buys and sells fine Japanese prints and paintings, offers a raw, urban space in the heart of Lincoln Park.

We love the romantic, fairytale feel of the Italian crystal chandeliers and natural light inside this restored factory building in the West Loop.
